The 80s classic, Labyrinth will have a sequel and will be directed by the director of Dr. Strange

In the 1980s, three fantastic film classics premiered starring Jim Henson’s Marvelous Puppets, Dark Crystal (1982) and Labyrinth (1986), The former has already enjoyed a fairly competent sequel in the form of the Netflix series The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistence. Now it is Labyrinth’s turn.

The problem with Labyrinth is that its most charismatic protagonist is Jareth, the Goblin King, starring David Bowie. The legendary singer and actor passed away in 2016, which leaves movie lovers wondering who will be play Jareth. Absolutely nothing is known about the plot of the new film, but the actress starring in the original, Jennifer Connelly, will return in the role of Sarah, now in an adult version.

The director in charge of this sequel will be Scott Derrickson, who we already know from his work in Sinister and Dr. Strange.

Derrickson was going to direct Dr. Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, but abandoned the project due to creative differences with Disney. Probably this new project also had a lot to do with his decision.

The script is written by Maggie Levin (Into the Dark and My Valentine). The producer of Henson will also participate in the film, something quite logical if we consider that the creatures of Labyrinth are an important part of its charm.
